A few days per month I volunteer at Welney Wetlands as a photographer. It's such a privilege to spend time down there and see the work the team do. They have a new photographers pit beneath the main hide which allows you to get down to the water level (and in times of flooding sometimes below the level) which can really help with your images.

If you are new to wildlife photography (or even if you are not) you should never overlook the joy of photographing ducks. For a start they are normally rather approachable and widespread. Secondly, if you give it a bit of time, you will always find them doing something interesting. Some of the shapes they pull when preening can make for quite a pleasing image, and of course there is always some squabbling and fighting going on.

Below a small selection of some of my images from the past few months.
